Nanded, Apr 6: Panic gripped Nanded city after a fifth murder was reported within 48 hours, with a youth allegedly linked to the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) hacked to death in broad daylight.
The deceased has been identified as Sonu Kalyankar (35), who was attacked in the Srinagar area of the city early Monday morning. According to police, three to four assailants intercepted him on the road around 6 am and assaulted him with sharp weapons, inflicting multiple injuries that led to his death on the spot.
The motive behind the killing remains unclear, and police have launched a detailed investigation. Senior officers rushed to the scene soon after the incident was reported.

Sources said Kalyankar had survived a previous life-threatening attack three years ago, when a gang member identified as Golu Manganale allegedly opened fire on him. The accused is currently lodged in jail.
Kalyankar was known to be active in political and social circles and was associated with the Shiv Sena.
The latest incident comes amid a spate of violent crimes in the city. On Friday night, three persons were killed in a gang-related clash. Within 24 hours, another youth, Ranjit Singh Tabelewale, was murdered in the Murmura Galli area on Saturday night.
With five murders reported in just two days, concerns over law and order have intensified, creating an atmosphere of fear among residents.
