Woman officer under SIT scanner in Ashok Kharat case

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Apr 6: In a significant development in the case involving self-styled godman Ashok Kharat, a woman officer has come under the scanner of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), with fresh findings triggering a stir within the administration.

According to sources, the SIT probe has revealed alleged links between the then Nashik-based woman officer and Ashok Kharat. It is suspected that during her posting in Nashik, she extended administrative support to Kharat. In return, Kharat allegedly used his network to secure a favourable posting for the officer.

Investigators also suspect that Kharat may have helped the officer convert unaccounted money into legitimate funds. Sources further indicated that financial transactions between the two have come to light, raising the possibility of a detailed inquiry into the officer’s role.

The revelations have caused concern within administrative circles, with further action likely based on the SIT findings.

Kharat is already facing multiple serious charges, including allegations of sexual assault on several women. A total of 12 cases have been registered against him so far.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said strict action would be taken against all accused involved in the case. He stated that new details are emerging regularly, but specifics of the SIT probe cannot be disclosed on a daily basis.

He also said that the case will be investigated by the Enforcement Directorate, which has already begun gathering information. Assuring action against those found guilty, the chief minister urged the public to maintain trust in the SIT investigation.
