Brahmavar, Apr 4: Brahmavar police have arrested an accused in connection with a house theft and recovered gold ornaments and cash worth approximately Rs 14 lac.
According to police, the incident occurred on March 6 between 7.45 pm and 10.15 pm, when the complainant, M Manjunath Rao (77), a resident of Heradi, near ITI College, along with his wife, had locked their home and gone to attend a Nagamandala programme in Barkur.
During their absence, unidentified thieves broke open the front door, entered the house, and forced open a Godrej locker in the bedroom.

The thieves made away with valuables including a gold pearl chain with pendant, two gold bangles, a pair of gold earrings, a gold ring, other gold ornaments, silver articles, and cash. The total value of the stolen property was estimated at Rs 14.67 lac.
A case was registered at Brahmavar police station.
Following an investigation under the guidance of deputy superintendent of police Belliappa, a police team led by CPI Gopikrishna and PSI Ashok Malabaghi, along with crime detection staff, arrested the accused, identified as Praveen Kumar K, a resident of Barkur.
Police recovered stolen gold ornaments worth around Rs 14 lac and cash of Rs 7,500. The accused has been produced before the court.
