Abu Dhabi, Apr 3: Five Indian nationals and seven others were injured after debris from an intercepted aerial projectile fell in the Ajban area of Abu Dhabi, authorities said on Friday.

According to the Abu Dhabi Media Office, all five Indians sustained minor injuries, while the injured also included seven Nepali nationals, one of whom suffered serious injuries.

The incident occurred after air defence systems successfully intercepted an aerial threat, with falling debris causing injuries and sparking a fire at a nearby gas facility in the area.

Officials said the exact nature and origin of the aerial threat were not disclosed, though the development comes amid ongoing strikes by Iran targeting Gulf nations in the conflict involving the United States and Israel.

In a statement, authorities said six Nepali nationals sustained minor to moderate injuries, while one was seriously hurt.

This is the latest in a series of similar incidents. On March 26, an Indian national was among two people killed when debris from a missile interception fell on Sweihan Street in Abu Dhabi. Days later, five Indians were injured after debris landed near the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi.

Several locations across the Gulf region, including critical energy infrastructure, have come under drone and missile attacks since the escalation of the conflict in West Asia.
