Kolkata, Apr 3: Meghna Chakravorty, a resident of the city, has achieved a significant milestone by securing the 79th rank in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) civil services examination. Meghna cleared the prestigious exam in her second attempt.

An alumna of St Stephen’s College and a post-graduate in political science and international relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Meghna chose her academic major as her optional subject for the competitive exam. After an initial stint of preparation in Delhi, she returned to her hometown to focus on self-study, citing fewer distractions and a better environment for managing the vast syllabus.

Speaking about her success, Meghna highlighted that while coaching helps clarify concepts, the workload management and consistent self-study are the primary drivers of success.

She maintained a disciplined routine, often studying for nearly 12 hours a day and limiting her social media usage to stay focused.

Meghna has opted for the IAS and IFS cadres. Her success has been widely appreciated by the local community as an example of perseverance and academic excellence.
