Jalpaiguri, Apr 2: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Jalpaiguri Road railway station in West Bengal apprehended 14 Bangladeshi nationals, including four women and four minors, from the Delhi-bound Northeast Express, officials said.
According to RPF Inspector Biplab Dutta, the operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs combined with routine train inspections. During the checking, several passengers were found to be suspicious, prompting officials to verify their documents.

“Based on source information, our RPF staff identified suspected individuals during train inspection. Upon verification, their Aadhaar cards appeared to be fake,” Dutta said.
The detained group comprises five men, five women, and four children. Officials recovered suspected forged Aadhaar cards and Malaysian currency from their possession. During preliminary questioning, the individuals reportedly stated that they were travelling to Kashmir in search of work opportunities.
Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to ascertain whether the Aadhaar cards were forged or procured through illegal channels. Further legal action is expected following verification.
In a related development, the Foreigner Cell of the Outer District of Delhi Police recently apprehended 10 Bangladeshi nationals during a special drive targeting illegal immigration. The individuals were allegedly using fake medical visa arrangements.
Police sources said the detainees had overstayed their visas and were attempting to obtain medical visas for Bulgaria despite lacking valid documentation to remain in India.
Deportation proceedings against the detained individuals have been initiated by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). Officials added that intensified verification drives and intelligence-based operations are underway to identify and act against illegal immigrants across multiple jurisdictions.
