Nine Naxalites surrender before Gadchiroli Police in anti-Naxal push

Gadchiroli, Apr 1: In a significant boost to anti-Naxal operations in Maharashtra, nine Naxalites carrying a combined bounty of Rs 30 lakh surrendered before the Gadchiroli Police on Tuesday.

According to officials, all nine surrendered cadres were linked to the Indravati Regional Committee and the National Park Regional Committee operating in neighbouring Chhattisgarh.

The surrendered individuals were welcomed into the mainstream, with police handing over copies of the Constitution of India as part of the rehabilitation process.

In a related development, 33 Maoists, including 17 women, also surrendered in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh on the same day, indicating intensified efforts by security forces to curb Left-wing extremism in the region.
