Karkala, Mar 31: The parents of Sudeep Rai, who recently passed away under suspicious circumstances, have demanded a high-level investigation into his death, alleging mental harassment, cruelty, and poisoning by his wife.

Addressing a press conference at the Press Club here on Tuesday, March 31, Sudeep Rai’s father, B Damodar Nelyadi, alleged that his son’s death was a direct result of persistent mental harassment and threats from his wife. He stated that an incident which took place on March 17 at Nelyadi town was the primary reason behind his son’s deteriorating mental health.

He further alleged that following the incident, his son was taken away by his wife, where he was subjected to further harassment and threats to his life. Subsequently, his health condition turned critical, and he was admitted to a hospital, where he breathed his last on the morning of March 29.

In a startling revelation during the meet, a person named Venugopal alleged that he too had been a victim of mental harassment by the same woman in the past. He claimed that their marriage proposal had been called off last year due to her behavior. Venugopal stated that he had even moved to Mumbai for a period as he was unable to bear the mental stress, adding that had his relationship continued, he might have faced a fate similar to that of Sudeep Rai.

The grieving family members and acquaintances have urged the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the case to ensure justice for the deceased. Sudeep Rai’s mother was also present at the press meet.
