Mangaluru, Mar 31: The graduation and diploma awarding ceremony of Unity Academy of Education was held on March 30 for the 22nd and 23rd batches of BSc nursing, the 2nd and 3rd batches of allied health sciences, and the diploma awarding ceremony of the 33rd and 34th batches of GNM, along with the 9th and 10th batches of paramedical sciences at Unity Academy of Education premises, Mangaluru.
Dr Geevarghese Mar Makarios, bishop of the Eparchy of Puttur, of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church graced the occasion as a chief guest while Dr Anice George, professor, department of child health nursing and former dean, Manipal College of Nursing was the guest of honour. Dr C P Habeeb Rehman, chairman Unity Academy of Education presided the occasion and Ashfaq M Habeeb and Yenepoya Ajml, trustee Unity Academy of Education, graced the occasion with their presence.




















Prof G Chitra, vice-principal Unity College of Nursing welcomed the dignitaries and the gathering. The annual report was presented by the principal Dr Raja A for nursing, Prof Seema Lobo for allied health sciences and Dr Sangeetha Priju for Unity College of Physiotherapy respectively, which gave the brief overview about the college and the achievements from the faculty and the students.
The much-awaited and enthusiastic moment was the receiving of awards and certificates by the graduates from the chief guest and guest of honour along with the esteemed chairman Dr C P Habeeb Rehman. The ceremony witnessed the awarding of graduation certificates to 122 diplomas and 171 graduates. It was a moment that fascinated everyone with the achievement of the students.
The guest of honour Dr Anice George, professor, department of child health nursing and former dean, Manipal College of Nursing, in her address to the graduates and awardees saluted the services of those who have rendered selfless work. She also congratulated the graduates for their achievements.
Chief guest Bishop Dr Geevarghese Mar Makarios, in his address focused on the importance of nursing and quality of healthcare. He also motivated the students to become a role model for the upcoming nurses and how much one can contribute to the welfare of the patient with love and compassion.
Dr C P Habeeb Rehman, chairman in his presidential address, congratulated the graduates and the awardees, wished them good luck for their future endeavours, and success.
Dr Elizabeth (PT) assistant professor proposed the vote of thanks. Joylin D’Souza assistant lecturer nursing and G Pravin Kumar, assistant professor allied health science, compered the graduation ceremony. After the ceremony, various cultural events were organized for the gathering. Around 1,700 people, including graduates, parents, alumni, guests, staff, and students, witnessed the solemn celebration. A graduation dinner was served to all after the programme.
