Adoor, Mar 30: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of indirectly supporting the Left Democratic Front (LDF) ahead of the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections.
Addressing a public rally in Adoor, Gandhi described the contest as a fight between the UDF and what he termed a “CPI(M)-BJP combination,” alleging that the BJP has a “hidden hand” in the state.
“The BJP does not want the UDF here because they know the only force that challenges them nationally is the Congress party. We have an ideological fight with the BJP and the RSS,” he said.

Gandhi also alleged selective action by central agencies, claiming that opposition leaders are being targeted while leaders of the LDF are spared scrutiny. “I have faced 36 cases and was interrogated for 55 continuous hours, but there is no action against the Kerala chief minister or LDF leaders,” he said.
Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gandhi criticised him for not addressing the issue of Sabarimala Temple during his recent visit to Palakkad.
“He speaks about temples and religion when it suits him electorally, but remained silent on Sabarimala and issues concerning Lord Ayyappa temple. This shows BJP and LDF are working together,” he alleged.
Gandhi further assured that any irregularities related to the temple would be addressed if the UDF comes to power in the state.
