Washington, Mar 30: US President Donald Trump on Sunday said he has “no problem” with a Russian oil tanker delivering fuel to Cuba, even as the island faces a severe energy crisis amid ongoing US restrictions.
Speaking to reporters, Trump indicated that Washington would not block the shipment, saying any country could send oil to Cuba if it helps the population survive. His remarks come despite a tightening US stance aimed at pressuring the Cuban government through an oil blockade.

According to reports, the tanker Anatoly Kolodkin, which is under sanctions by the United States, the European Union and the United Kingdom, is carrying around 730,000 barrels of oil and was positioned off Cuba’s eastern coast on Sunday night. It is expected to reach the port city of Matanzas by Tuesday.
The development comes as Cuba grapples with widespread fuel shortages, power outages and disruptions to essential services. Experts estimate the shipment could yield about 180,000 barrels of diesel, enough to meet the country’s demand for roughly nine to ten days.
The crisis has intensified in recent months, with shortages affecting hospitals, transport systems and daily life across the island. Analysts say the limited relief from the incoming shipment may offer temporary respite but is unlikely to resolve the broader energy challenges facing the country.
Trump’s remarks mark a rare easing tone amid otherwise strict measures imposed by his administration against Cuba, which have aimed to exert pressure on the government but have also had significant humanitarian consequences.
