Mangaluru, Mar 28: After days of intense heat, pre-monsoon showers brought much-needed relief to residents of the city as rain lashed the region on Saturday, March 28.

The sudden downpour, accompanied by thunder and lightning, soaked Mangaluru city and several other parts of the district. Dark clouds hovering over the city by evening gave a monsoon-like feel, catching many off guard. Several people, unprepared for the unexpected showers, were seen rushing to find shelter.

According to the meteorological department, the pre-monsoon activity is expected to intensify across Karnataka from March 27 to April 2. The department has forecast widespread rainfall over the next seven days and issued a yellow alert for around 14–15 districts, including Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.

The rainfall has led to a noticeable drop in temperature, offering short-lived but welcome respite from the summer heat.
