Jharkhand, Gujarat dominate as Khelo India Tribal Games action intensifies

Raipur, Mar 27: Competitions in multiple disciplines continued on the third day of the Khelo India Tribal Games in Chhattisgarh, with events in swimming, weightlifting, hockey and football being held in Raipur, while wrestling competitions commenced in Ambikapur.

In women’s football group stage matches, Jharkhand registered a commanding 9-1 victory over Assam. In another match, Gujarat delivered a dominant performance, defeating Andhra Pradesh 25-0.

The first edition of the Games, which began on March 25, will continue till April 3, featuring participation from over 3,000 athletes representing 30 states and Union Territories.

A total of seven disciplines are being contested, including archery, athletics, football, hockey, swimming, weightlifting and wrestling. Traditional sports like Mallakhamb and kabaddi have been included as demonstration events.
