Mangaluru, Mar 27: New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) achieved a historic milestone on March 26, as it welcomed the 40,000th ship to call at the port since its inception.

The landmark vessel, an LPG tanker named MT Apollo Ocean, arrived at berth number 13 at approximately 4 pm. To mark the significant occasion, NMPA deputy chairperson S Shanthi officially welcomed the ship and felicitated its captain in the presence of senior port officials.

MT Apollo Ocean is scheduled to discharge 16,000 metric tonnes of LPG. According to an official release, the arrival of this vessel underscores the vital role the port plays in meeting the regional industrial and domestic energy requirements.

The achievement of hosting 40,000 ships reflects the consistent growth and operational efficiency of the New Mangalore Port Authority, further solidifying its position as the premier gateway to the west coast of India.
