Abu Dhabi, Mar 26: A missile interception over Abu Dhabi turned tragic today when debris from the operation struck a busy road, killing two people and injuring three others. The incident has underscored the risks posed even during successful air defence measures.
According to the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the fragments fell on Sweihan Street following the interception of a ballistic missile by UAE air defence systems. While the identities of the deceased have not yet been released, three others sustained injuries, and multiple vehicles were damaged.

Authorities confirmed that the missile had been successfully neutralized, but debris landing in a populated area caused casualties and property damage. Emergency teams responded promptly as investigations into the incident were launched.
In a statement on X, the Abu Dhabi Media Office urged the public to rely solely on official sources for updates and to avoid spreading unverified information, promising further updates as the situation develops.
