Bengaluru, Mar 26: Bengaluru FC—champions of the Indian Super League 2018–19 season—have named Spanish coach Pep Muñoz as their new head coach, signing him on a contract that runs through the 2026–27 season.
Muñoz brings with him a wealth of coaching experience across multiple levels and countries. He has previously been part of the setup at FC Barcelona, working with their U19 side and Barcelona B. His career also includes stints in China with Qingdao Huanghai, Shandong Luneng, and involvement with the Chinese national team.

His first full-time head coaching role came with Cambodian club Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng, where he enjoyed a highly successful spell—winning two league titles and a domestic cup, along with guiding the team to the AFC Challenge League final.
At Bengaluru FC, Muñoz will be supported by Ferran Borràs, who joins the coaching staff as part of the new setup.
Speaking about his appointment, Muñoz described joining Bengaluru FC as an easy decision, calling the club a “model” in Indian football with a clear vision and strong foundation. He expressed enthusiasm about working with the squad and emphasised his aim to build a proactive, confident, and attack-minded team with a clear tactical identity.
Club owner Parth Jindal welcomed the appointment, stating that Muñoz’s values align closely with the club’s philosophy of hard work, humility, and strong fan connection. He added that the management believes Muñoz is the right choice to lead the team into its next phase.
Currently, Bengaluru FC sit fifth in the ISL 2025–26 standings, having collected 11 points from six matches as they continue their campaign.
