Raipur, Mar 25: The first edition of the Khelo India Tribal Games began in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday, with competitions set to continue until April 3 across multiple venues.
Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya formally inaugurated the Games in Raipur, in the presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.
The event aims to provide a national platform for youth from tribal regions, helping them showcase their talent and gain wider recognition in sports.

Competitions will be held across three cities — Raipur, Jagdalpur, and Ambikapur. Raipur will host football, hockey, archery, swimming, weightlifting, and kabaddi events, while athletics will take place in Bastar. Surguja will host wrestling and mallakhamb competitions.
More than 3,000 tribal athletes and officials from nearly 30 states and Union Territories are participating in the Games, marking a significant step towards promoting sports among tribal communities in the country.
