Udupi, Mar 24: A man who recently returned from working abroad has gone missing after leaving for a company in Gujarat, prompting his wife Manjula Acharya to lodge a complaint at Shirva police station.

The missing person has been identified as Girish Acharya (46), a resident of Pilaru, Halisinakatte.

According to his wife, Girish arrived in Udupi from abroad on March 4. On March 7, he informed her that he needed to visit his company in Gujarat. That evening, he collected a gold chain from his wife and left home, promising to return soon.

Later that night, Girish called to say he had reached Mangaluru, but his mobile has since been switched off. He has not returned home since leaving on March 7.

Manjula Acharya said there was a delay in filing the police complaint as she had first contacted relatives and friends in multiple locations to try and trace him.

Girish Acharya is described as having fair skin, standing 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a sturdy build. At the time he went missing, he was wearing a half-sleeve pink shirt and black trousers. He is fluent in Hindi, Kannada, Tulu, and Tamil, according to his wife.

The Shirva police have registered a case and are actively investigating his disappearance, urging anyone with information to come forward.

Shirva Police is THE BEST.....they will trace him from any where.....if he carry a Mobile Phone its very easy to trace him....My best guess he might have travelled to Surat to get training in 'Diamond Cutting' its a highly skilled and well paid job....I know many Gold Smiths from Shirva do that job.....Tak...Takk...
