Dubai, Mar 21: Iran has issued a stark warning that recreational spaces and tourist destinations worldwide could become targets, as tensions intensify nearly three weeks into sustained military exchanges involving the United States and Israel.
The statement, delivered by senior military spokesperson Gen. Abolfazl Shekarchi, raised fresh concerns about the possibility of Iran expanding its response beyond West Asia through indirect or militant-style operations. His remarks come amid continued strikes that have reportedly eliminated several senior Iranian leaders and significantly impacted the country’s defence and energy infrastructure.

Despite these setbacks, Iran has maintained its offensive posture. Missile launches targeting Israel and energy facilities in Gulf Arab states have continued even as communities across the region observed Eid al-Fitr, alongside Iran’s own New Year celebrations, Nowruz.
IRGC Spokesperson Killed After Defiant Statement
In a dramatic turn, a spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Gen. Ali Mohammad Naeini, asserted that Iran’s missile production remained uninterrupted despite wartime pressures, directly countering claims by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Naeini stated that missile manufacturing and stockpiling were continuing without major disruption. However, shortly after his remarks were published in state media, Iranian television reported that he had been killed in an airstrike, marking another significant loss in Iran’s military leadership.
Drone Strike Hits Kuwait Oil Refinery
Meanwhile, regional tensions spilled into Kuwait, where drone attacks struck the Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery, one of the largest oil processing facilities in West Asia with a capacity of around 730,000 barrels per day.
The strikes triggered multiple fires and forced the shutdown of several operational units, according to state media reports.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported, and authorities later confirmed that the fires had been contained. The refinery had reportedly suffered damage in a similar attack just a day earlier.
Explosions were also reported in Dubai, where air defence systems intercepted incoming projectiles, highlighting the widening geographic scope of the conflict.
As the situation continues to evolve, Iran’s warnings and ongoing strikes are raising fears of a broader escalation, with potential implications for global security, energy markets, and civilian safety well beyond the immediate region.
