Bengaluru, Mar 17: The Karnataka government is committed to providing special initiatives to support NEET coaching for students from rural areas, Medical Education, Skill Development and Livelihood Minister Dr Sharanaprakash R Patil informed the Council on Monday.
During the Question Hour, Congress MLC Ivan D’Souza raised concerns that the NEET system is limiting access to medical education for rural students, questioning whether the Rs 3 lac assistance provided is sufficient for coaching.

Responding, Patil clarified that NEET has not caused any reduction in the state’s medical seats. He noted that although the government had planned to scrap NEET, the Supreme Court upheld the system. Patil assured that the government will take various measures to offer more effective coaching opportunities to rural students preparing for the exam.
