Mumbai, Mar 15: A shocking incident has come to light from Dharavi where a 58-year-old scrap dealer allegedly murdered his wife on suspicion that she was practising black magic on him.
The accused, identified as Amrit Megha Solanki, allegedly killed his wife Surajben Solanki (52) and later confessed to the crime during a WhatsApp video call with his son.
According to police, the incident occurred around 2.30 pm on March 13 at their residence in Jamba Pascal Chawl in Dharavi Koliwada. Amrit Solanki and his wife had been living there for several years.

As per the complaint filed by their son Shivram Solanki (33), his father had been harassing his mother for the past three years, believing that she and their children were practising black magic against him.
Police said the accused had also prevented his children from entering the house, claiming that they supported their mother. During an argument on March 11, he had allegedly threatened to kill his wife.
On the day of the incident, Shivram had gone to the house to take his father along for a relative’s funeral. However, the door was locked from inside and there was no response despite repeated calls.
When Shivram phoned his father, Amrit asked him to join a video call. As soon as the WhatsApp video call began, Shivram was shocked to see his father covered in blood. The accused then turned the camera towards the floor and showed the body of his wife lying in a pool of blood.
He reportedly told his son, “Call everyone. I have killed your mother by hitting her with a bottle and strangling her.”
Shivram’s screams alerted neighbours who gathered at the spot and informed the police. Personnel from the Dharavi Police rushed to the house and shifted Surajben to Sion Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Police have registered a murder case and arrested the accused. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
