Udupi, Mar 12: In preparation for the upcoming monsoon season, the Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) carried out its annual pre-monsoon inspection along the Konkan Railway route to review infrastructure readiness and safety measures.

The inspection was led by Santosh Kumar Jha, chairman and managing director of KRCL, along with directors and senior officials from various departments. The team assessed vulnerable locations, ongoing maintenance works and safety arrangements to ensure uninterrupted and safe train operations during the monsoon months.

Officials inspected the section between Madgaon (MAO) and Thokur (TOK) on March 10, followed by the Madgaon (MAO) to Roha (ROH) section on March 11.

During the inspection, the team conducted a detailed review of railway tracks, bridges, tunnels, cuttings, slopes, signalling systems and water-logging-prone areas. Station infrastructure and solar lighting installations along the route were also examined.

The inspection also provided an opportunity to assess the preventive measures being implemented to maintain reliable train services during the heavy rainfall period. Konkan Railway officials stated that such annual inspections are an essential part of the railway’s proactive strategy to strengthen safety and preparedness across its network, which passes through difficult terrain and regions that receive heavy monsoon rainfall.
