Sneha Jyothi Social Service Centre organises International Women’s Day 2026 celebration

Shivamogga, Mar 12: The International Women’s Day 2026 celebration for the beneficiary women of Sneha Jyothi Social Service Centre was organized at Amara Jyothi Composite Pre-University College, Sorab.

The program was inaugurated by Sr Harshitha, Superior of Maria Bodwig Convent, Sorab, by lighting the traditional lamp. In her inaugural address, she stated that women are a valuable asset to society. She highlighted that women tirelessly work day and night in nurturing and strengthening both the family and society with values and culture. She also mentioned that today’s women have made remarkable achievements in professional, economic, political, and cultural fields. She encouraged women to participate more actively in skill development activities and contribute further towards building a responsible and progressive society.

Sr Joel, director of Sneha Jyothi Social Service Centre, created awareness about the safety of women and children and spoke about the unfortunate incidents happening in society today. She emphasized the importance of awareness, supporting one another, and being cautious while dealing with strangers or visiting unfamiliar places. She also explained the legal rights and protections available for women.

Jayanthi Hulathikoppa, Ruksana Bhanu Kanakeri, and Dhanavanti Masur were present on the dais.

The programme began with a prayer by Reeta and Suma. Subbaraya Haller welcomed the gathering. Manjappa compered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.

Around 200 women from rural areas of Sorab Taluk participated in the programme and benefited through both information and entertainment.
