Sullia: Absconding accused in house theft case arrested, another case registered

Sullia, Mar 12: Bellare police have arrested Sharath S (24), a resident of Neriya in Beltangady, who had been absconding and failing to appear before the court in connection with a house theft case.

The accused was produced before the court. In connection with the theft case, the court sentenced him to six months’ simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs 500 under Section 457 of the IPC. Under Section 380 of the IPC, he was sentenced to 10 months’ simple imprisonment and fined Rs 500. The court also ordered that in case of failure to pay the fine, he will have to undergo an additional 10 days of imprisonment.

Further, as the accused had absconded without appearing for court hearings, another case was registered against Sharath under Section 269 of the BNS. The court ordered a penalty of Rs 1,000 or 10 days of imprisonment in this case.

SI Santosh B P served as the investigating officer and collected the necessary evidence before submitting the final report to the court. Assistant public prosecutor Preethi M C argued the case.
