Mangaluru, Mar 12: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the department of obstetrics and gynaecology and OBG OPD units of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital (FMHMC) organized a one-day national seminar, GYNAECAN-26 on the topic 'Female Malignancies (breast and genital)' on March 8 in College Auditorium, Deralakatte.
The day commenced with open forum presentation by the faculties. The inaugural ceremony was graced by the dignitaries, Fr Donald Nilesh Crasta, administrator, FMHMC & H, Dr E S J Prabhu Kiran, principal, FMHMC & H, chief guest, Corrine Antoinette Rasquinha, Dr Vilma Meera D’Souza, vice principal, professor & HOD, Dept of OBG, convener, and the resource person of the morning session, Dr Vinu Krishnan, chief medical officer, Homoeopathic Palliative Centre, Malappuram.














Ceremony formally inaugurated by invoking God’s blessings followed by lighting of the lamp ceremony. Dr E S J Prabhu Kiran, principal welcomed the august gathering. Chief guest, Corrine Antoinette Rasquinha, courageously shared her personal journey of battling cancer. Through her experience she reminded the importance of early awareness and screening, expressing her heartfelt wish that no other women should have to go through the same struggle.
As a gesture of gratitude and appreciation, Corrine Antoinette Rasquinha was felicitated for the services rendered by her to the society.
Fr Nilesh Crasta, administrator appreciated the department of obstetrics & gynaecology for organizing a week-long series of activities in connection with International Women’s Day, including awareness camps, health talks, screening, and competitions. He also acknowledged the dedicated the efforts taken to publicise the event through creative reels and shorts. Administrator further emphasized the timely investigations and screening play a crucial role in early detection of diseases and enable prompt and effective treatment.
The inaugural ceremony was compered by Dr Adlin Gonsalves, Asst professor, Dept of OBG. This was followed by the scientific sessions.
The resource persons for the seminar – Dr Vinu Krishnan, chief medical officer, Homoeopathic Palliative Centre, Malappuram and Dr Mariam Anjum Ifthikar, head of gynaeco-oncology, Yenepoya University, Deralakatte.
MC’s for the scientific session were Dr Adlin Gonsalves and Dr Meenu Maria Mathew, from the department of OBG.
In view of International Women’s Day, a week-long following activity were conducted by the department of OBG & OPD Units.

• Screening and health awareness talk for high school children
• Model making competition for students of FMHMC
• One day national seminar
• Open forum paper presentation for faculty, postgraduates, interns and students.
