Panaji, Mar 11: Polling for the Corporation of the City of Panjim (CCP) wards recorded an overall voter turnout of 47.84 per cent between 8 am and 2 pm on Wednesday, according to the official polling report.
Out of a total electorate of 32,496 voters, including 15,225 men and 17,271 women, as many as 15,546 votes were cast during the polling period. This included 7,382 male voters and 8,164 female voters who exercised their franchise across the city’s wards.
Polling was conducted across 30 wards of the corporation, with most wards having one or two polling stations. The voting process was reported to be largely smooth in areas such as Dona Paula, Caranzalem, Miramar, Campal, St Inez, Altinho, Mala, Patto, Ribandar and other localities within the Panaji municipal limits.

Among the wards, Ward XXIII recorded one of the highest voter turnouts at 56.22 per cent, followed by Ward XII with 56.07 per cent and Ward XIV with 53.56 per cent. Ward XXVIII also witnessed a strong turnout of 54.66 per cent, indicating relatively higher voter participation in these areas.
In contrast, Ward III recorded the lowest turnout at 38.55 per cent, while Ward V registered 40.26 per cent and Ward XXV reported 40.20 per cent, reflecting comparatively lower participation.
Several wards witnessed moderate participation, with Ward I recording 52.33 per cent turnout, Ward II 50.50 per cent, Ward IX 50.66 per cent and Ward XIX 51.68 per cent, indicating balanced voter engagement across many parts of the city.
Polling stations were set up at various educational institutions and government offices, including the Government Primary and High School at Dona Paula, the National Institute of Water Sports at Caranzalem, Dhempe College at Miramar, Goa College of Home Science at Campal, Dr T B Cunha Higher Secondary School, Public Works Department offices at St Inez, and several government schools and administrative buildings across Panaji and Ribandar.
Authorities monitored the voting process throughout the morning hours, and polling was reported to have proceeded peacefully with voters turning up steadily at booths across the city. Officials are expected to release further updates as polling progresses, with the final turnout figures likely to be announced later in the day.
