Panaji, Mar 10: The Goa government has decided to re-examine recovery notices issued under the Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSSY) and Griha Aadhar scheme after complaints that economically weaker families were being unfairly targeted.
The move comes after reports surfaced that some poor households had received benefits under both schemes and were later served recovery notices, causing distress among the affected families.
Raising the issue, MLA Govind Gaude highlighted the hardships faced by beneficiaries who were asked to return the funds. Responding to the concern, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant assured that recovery notices would be waived wherever appropriate.

Meanwhile, the minister for social welfare said the recovery process has been temporarily halted until a detailed re-verification of beneficiaries is completed.
The government said the review aims to ensure that no genuine beneficiary from economically weaker sections is wrongly penalised under the two welfare schemes.
