Mangaluru, Mar 10: While the tension of war among Middle East nations and the observance of Ramzan fasting continue, both factors have had an unexpected impact on India’s egg market. With exports coming to a halt, egg prices in the domestic market have suddenly declined, bringing some relief to the pockets of common consumers.
Two major factors have been identified behind the fall in egg prices.

Due to Export suspension. Nearly 80 percent of the eggs produced in India were being exported to Gulf countries. However, due to the ongoing war-like situation in the Middle East, transportation systems have been disrupted and exports have come to a complete halt.
Also, changes in market demand during the Ramzan fasting period have also contributed to the fall in prices.
Egg stocks that were meant for export are now dependent on the domestic market, leading to a significant drop in both wholesale and retail prices.
Wholesale price has fallen from Rs 7 to Rs 5 per egg. Bulk sale (100 eggs) is now available for around Rs 500. Retail prices currently range between Rs 5.50 and Rs 6.00 per egg.
For common people who had been struggling with rising prices, the sudden fall in egg prices has brought considerable relief. Egg lovers have welcomed the price drop, and market demand has picked up.
The lower prices are likely to continue until the export market recovers. While this has caused some concern among poultry farmers, for consumers who are now able to access protein-rich food at lower prices, it has truly come as welcome news.
Egg prices have become affordable for consumers, and the market has witnessed increased activity. After once soaring to high levels, egg prices have now suddenly dropped, reflecting changes in market demand.
