Bengaluru, Mar 9: The central crime branch (CCB) police have registered an FIR against two individuals for allegedly cheating job aspirants by promising them employment within the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). The accused duped candidates by promising them various roles, including lucrative placements at the Mangaluru depot, and swindled over Rs 12 lac in the process.

The accused have been identified as Rudresh S Nayak, a resident of Chikka Torepalya in Magadi taluk, and a Bengaluru resident named Shashi Bhushan.

The complaint was filed by a job aspirant named Prasad. According to the complainant, he befriended Rudresh in 2022–23 while pursuing a law degree. Rudresh claimed to be a senior official in the KSRTC selection department and went to the extent of swearing on his wife and children to gain the trust of the job aspirants.

The accused initially collected Rs 26,000 from each aspirant. Later, Prasad transferred Rs 12 lac to a Karnataka Bank account in Ramanagara. To further convince the victims, the accused summoned the candidates to a hotel in Bengaluru, where he presented documents featuring a fake KSRTC letterhead and official seal. He then demanded Rs 1 lac for a placement at the Mangaluru depot and Rs 2 lac for a higher-ranking position.

The victims became suspicious when the accused failed to provide the appointment letters and eventually switched off his phone. Upon conducting their own inquiries, the victims discovered that Rudresh had duped several others in a similar manner and was currently absconding.

The victims also alleged that Shashi Bhushan, who was involved in the initial financial transactions, had misled them when questioned about the whereabouts of Rudresh. Prasad has requested the CCB to take strict legal action against both individuals for their fraudulent activities. The CCB is currently investigating the case.
