Udupi: Adarsha Group of Institutions celebrates graduation ceremony, annual day with grandeur

Udupi, March 7: Adarsha Group of Institutions, Udupi, a unit of Adarsha Charitable Trust (R), held its graduation ceremony and annual day celebration with grandeur at Adarsha College, Alevoor, Udupi, on March 5.

M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation (R), Moodbidri, said that nursing is not merely a profession but a noble service to humanity, as it involves patient care, medical assistance and healthcare support. He emphasised that compassion, patience and empathy are essential qualities in caring for patients and noted that nurses often display motherly affection while serving the sick.

 

He advised the graduates to enhance their professional standards by developing medical expertise and maintaining a continuous learning attitude. With a global population of 8.3 billion, the demand for healthcare services is immense, and he urged them to love their profession and never abandon the path of service.

“God has given us the opportunity to serve in the health field. Choosing this profession alone is not enough; it is important to utilise it effectively and perform our duties with satisfaction,” he said.

Kota Srinivas Poojary, member of Parliament for Udupi–Chikkamagaluru constituency, addressing the gathering, said that G S Chandrashekhar stands as a perfect example of achieving success through dedication, honesty and commitment. He added that working in the medical field is a noble service as it involves saving lives.

“As the world becomes more educated and literate, new challenges also arise, making the role of doctors even more important. Even in situations like war, the service of medical professionals is crucial. I hope that a medical college will be established in Udupi through the Adarsha Group of Institutions,” he said.

Gurme Suresh Shetty, MLA representing Kaup constituency, congratulated the graduating students and said they are stepping into their professional careers after completing their education. He also praised Chandrashekhar for his dedication to patients, noting that he is known for attending to emergencies even late at night.

G S Chandrashekhar, MBBS, MD, medical director of Adarsha Hospital, Udupi, and chairman of Adarsha Group of Institutions, presided over the event.

A total of 74 students were awarded degrees during the ceremony, including 37 students from nursing and 37 from allied health science and paramedical science. The degrees were conferred by Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation.

Prashanth G P, administrative officer of Adarsha Group of Institutions, welcomed the gathering. Sudhina M, principal of Adarsha College of Nursing, presented the annual report. Yashodha S, vice-principal, delivered the vote of thanks. Meghana Hegde, professor, and Prajnya, assistant professor, compered the event.

G S Prakash, trustee of Adarsha Group of Institutions, Udupi; Vimala Chandrashekhar, vice-chairman of Adarsha Group of Institutions, Udupi, and CEO of Adarsha Hospital, Udupi; Suhas G C, DM interventional cardiologist and director of Adarsha Hospital, Udupi; Ravikumar T N, principal of Adarsha Institute of Allied Health and Paramedical Sciences, Udupi; teaching and non-teaching staff, graduates and others were present on the occasion.
