Mumbai to witness hot, sunny day; temperature likely to touch 36°C

Mumbai, Mar 7: Mumbai is likely to experience a warm and sunny day on Friday with mainly clear skies and hot, humid conditions across the city and its suburbs, according to the India Meteorological Department.

As per the Regional Meteorological Centre Mumbai (RMC), the minimum temperature recorded on Friday morning was 23.6°C at the Santacruz observatory and 25.4°C at Colaba.

The weather department said the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 36°C, indicating warm daytime conditions typical of early March.

According to the forecast, the sun rose at 6:54 am and is expected to set at 6:46 pm. Meteorologists have indicated stable atmospheric conditions with no major weather changes expected in the coming days.

Residents can expect largely sunny skies along with moderate humidity and light north-easterly winds during the day.

Data from the Central Pollution Control Board’s Sameer app showed that Mumbai’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 84, falling under the ‘Satisfactory’ category on Friday morning.
According to the CPCB, such air quality may cause minor breathing discomfort for sensitive individuals.

AQI levels recorded across parts of the city include:

• Bandra Kurla Complex: 108 (Moderate)

• Borivali East: 103 (Moderate)

• Mazgaon: 92 (Satisfactory)

• Andheri East: 106 (Moderate)

• Chembur: 78 (Satisfactory)

• Colaba: 98 (Satisfactory)

• Shivaji Nagar: 111 (Moderate)

In neighbouring areas, air quality remained mostly moderate, with Thane recording an AQI of 82, Navi Mumbai 86, and Kalyan 44, which falls under the ‘Good’ category.

The city has been witnessing hot afternoons since the last week of February, with temperatures rising sharply during the day. Since the beginning of March, skies have remained mostly clear with light winds and moderate humidity.

Weather experts have advised residents to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours as temperatures continue to remain high.
