Mangaluru, Mar 4: A blood donation camp was successfully organised on March 3 at St Aloysius ITI. The camp was jointly conducted by Lions Club Mangaluru (District 317 D) and Aloysius ITI & Aloysius SAITI, and was arranged as a tribute to the late Dr Leo D’Souza SJ for his dedicated service to society.
The programme began with a brief inaugural function. The dignitaries on the dais were Lion Rajesh Kamath, president, Lions Club Mangaluru; Dr Kirana Pailoor, HOD, Fr Muller Medical College Hospital; Lion Vinayak Pai, treasurer, Lions Club Mangaluru; chief guest Ln Hema Rao, 1st vice president, Lions Club Mangaluru; Lion Ganesh Shenoy, 2nd vice president, Lions Club Mangaluru; director Fr John D’Souza; Roshan D’Souza, principal, St Aloysius ITI; Alwyn Menezes, vice principal; Lion Richard Lobo, coordinator – Service Activity; Lion Shivaram Rai, Past treasurer, Lions Club Mangaluru; Lion Dayavathi; Lion Noel Lobo, zone chairperson, Region 6; Lion Wilson N, advisor – Leo Club, St Aloysius ITI; Leo Royson (MMV 2nd year), president, Leo Club; and Leo Rivan (EL 2nd Year), student council president.























The programme was efficiently compered by Lion Wilson N, who served as the master of ceremony and guided the proceedings smoothly.
The chief guest Ln Hema Rao, Dr Kirana Pailoor, and director Fr John D’Souza addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of blood donation. They emphasised that voluntary blood donation is a noble service to humanity and can save many lives.
Medical staff and technicians ensured that all safety and hygiene protocols were strictly followed. Proper medical screening was conducted for every donor before blood collection. Students, staff members, alumni, and outsiders, along with members of the Lions Club, actively participated in the camp and donated blood voluntarily.
The response from the students was very encouraging. Many first-time donors came forward, showing a strong sense of social responsibility.
The count of blood donors are as follows:
- 11 staff members
- 16 members care of staff
- 49 students
So 76 members in all donated blood. The camp created awareness about health, service, and humanity among the youth.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to the Lions Club members, medical team, and the management of St Aloysius ITI for their cooperation and support.
The organisers appreciated the donors for their noble contribution and encouraged them to continue such humanitarian service in the future. Afternoon lunch was provided to all the donors as a gesture of appreciation and care.
The blood donation camp was a grand success and reflected the spirit of service and unity among the organizers and participants.
