Udupi, Feb 25: The BJP Udupi City unit has submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner demanding a comprehensive investigation into alleged irregularities in tax payment receipts at the Udupi City Municipality.
The memorandum was submitted under the leadership of city president Dinesh Amin, urging the district administration to initiate a thorough probe into the matter.

According to reports, a tax fraud case has come to light within the Udupi City Municipality, and the municipal commissioner has already lodged a complaint at the Udupi Town police station. It is understood that three individuals suspected to be involved in the case have been arrested. Media reports have indicated that fake bank seals were allegedly used on tax payment challans, leading to confusion and concern among the public.
Incidents involving fake receipts are reportedly surfacing one after another, further deepening public suspicion. The BJP stated that the Udupi City Municipality has long maintained its own dignity and reputation, and such incidents have not only caused anxiety among taxpayers but have also brought embarrassment to the civic body and the citizens.
The memorandum further alleged that there have been several recent reports of misuse of public funds within the municipality. Given the serious nature of the present case, the BJP has demanded that any bank officials and municipal staff or officers found to be involved be identified and booked under relevant legal provisions.
The party has also called for a comprehensive departmental inquiry and urged that the matter be handed over for a judicial investigation to ensure that all those responsible faces stringent legal action.
The BJP leaders emphasised the need for transparency and accountability to restore public confidence in the functioning of the civic body.
