Kolkata, Feb 21: FC Goa struck twice in the opening half to register a 2-0 victory over Mohammedan Sporting in their Indian Super League clash at the Kishore Bharati Stadium here on Friday, February 20.
The win marked Goa’s first victory of the season, taking their tally to three points from two matches. Mohammedan Sporting, meanwhile, suffered their second consecutive defeat.

Having earlier come from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Inter Kashi in their opener, the Gaurs found their rhythm early in Kolkata and took control of the contest from the outset.
The breakthrough came as early as the fourth minute. Spanish defender Pol Moreno rose highest inside the box to head home from a well-delivered corner, catching the Mohammedan defence off guard.
Buoyed by the early lead, Goa continued to press forward and maintained the upper hand in possession and attacking moves.
The second goal arrived in the 31st minute following a defensive lapse by the home side. Mohammedan goalkeeper Subhajit Bhattacharjee rushed out to challenge Udanta Singh inside the penalty area and brought the winger down.
Serbian forward Dejan Drazic stepped up and calmly converted the penalty to double Goa’s advantage before halftime.
In the second half, Goa managed the game effectively, denying the hosts clear scoring opportunities. Mohammedan Sporting, one of the few teams in the league without a foreign recruit, struggled to break through the organised Goa defence.
The final score read: Mohammedan Sporting 0 lost to FC Goa 2 (Pol Moreno 4, Dejan Drazic 32-pen).
