Minister Zameer Ahmed foots bill for govt school children’s helicopter ride at Hampi Utsava

Ballari, Feb 15: In a spontaneous and heart-warming gesture at the world-famous Hampi Utsava, district in-charge minister Zameer Ahmed turned a group of curious onlookers into airborne spectators by arranging a free helicopter ride for more than 60 government school children — entirely at his personal expense.

The students had come to witness the popular “By Sky” aerial viewing attraction organised as part of the Utsava celebrations. At the premises of Mayura Hotel in Kamalapura, where the helicopter rides were being operated, the minister noticed a group of uniformed government school children standing excitedly and watching the aircraft.

Engaging with them, he asked, “Do you also want to go in the helicopter?” The children responded in chorus, “Yes, sir,” their faces lighting up with anticipation.

Moved by their enthusiasm, Zameer Ahmed immediately instructed organisers to arrange helicopter rides for all the children present and made it clear that he would bear the cost himself. Arrangements were swiftly made, and the students were taken on board in batches.

As the helicopter soared into the sky, cheers and applause rang out from below. The children’s joy was unmistakable as they experienced an aerial view during the grand Utsava. Parents watching from the ground were seen shedding tears of happiness, overwhelmed at the sight of their children’s dream taking flight.

What began as a simple exchange at the Hampi Utsava venue soon became one of the most memorable moments of the celebrations, drawing praise from locals and adding a touching chapter to this year’s festivities.
