Kadaba, Feb 15: In a significant development in the case where a teenager died of a gunshot wound and his father was found injured in Ramakunja village, medical reports have confirmed that the father’s injuries were caused by a firearm and not a knife as initially reported.

The incident took place on January 24 at Pade in Ramakunja village. Moksh (17), son of Vasanth Amin and Jayashree, was found dead from a gunshot wound to his face, while his father, Vasanth Amin, was found at the scene with serious injuries.

When the incident first came to light, it was reported that a family dispute had led Moksh to allegedly stab his father in the stomach with a knife before turning his father's licensed SBBL gun on himself. Vasanth Amin, who was rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru by his friend Padmanabha Shetty and the police, had initially claimed that his son stabbed him before committing suicide.

However, detailed medical examinations have now confirmed that the injury on Vasanth Amin's abdomen was caused by a bullet from the gun and not by a knife. While the father has since recovered and been discharged from the hospital, this medical confirmation has shifted the trajectory of the investigation.

The Kadaba police, who had registered a case based on the initial complaint by Padmanabha Shetty, are now re-examining the sequence of events. While the medical report clarifies the nature of the father's injury, the police are awaiting the final report from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Bengaluru to conclude the case.

"The medical confirmation proves the injury was due to a gunshot. We are waiting for the FSL report to finalize the investigation and establish the exact circumstances that led to both the father and son being shot," the police stated in a release.
