Udupi, Feb 14: In a major relief for non-resident Indians (NRIs) from the coastal region, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu has confirmed that direct flight services between Mangaluru and Muscat will resume in March.
The decision follows a formal request made by Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Shrinivas Poojary, who had written to the Union Minister highlighting the difficulties faced by commuters due to the suspension of the direct route.
Responding to the MP's letter, the Union Minister stated that discussions were held with Air India, and the airline has now decided to restart operations on this sector from next month.

The resumption of this direct service is expected to benefit thousands of people from the coastal districts who are settled in Oman for employment, business, and education. Currently, many travelers from Mangaluru and surrounding areas are forced to take connecting flights, which are both time-consuming and expensive.
The announcement has been widely welcomed by the expatriate community and frequent travelers, as it will significantly improve connectivity between the coastal belt and the Gulf region.
