Mogarnad, Feb 11: The parishioners of Mother of God Church, Mogarnad, came together in a grand display of faith and community spirit to celebrate their annual feast on Wednesday.
The event, marked by "great pomp and honour," drew hundreds of devotees who gathered to pay homage to the Patroness.






A solemn Eucharistic celebration
The highlight of the day was the festive high Mass. Fr Rajesh Melwyn Rosario, the rector of St Joseph’s Interdiocesan Seminary, Jeppu, served as the main celebrant. In a moving and insightful homily, Fr Rosario exhorted the faithful to look toward the Mother of God as a beacon of hope and a model for Christian living.
"We should follow in the footsteps of Mary, taking her as our constant help," Fr Rosario stated. "By emulating her humility and devotion, we are called to reach out and help one another in our daily lives."
Concelebrants and Community Support
Fr Ivan Michael Rodrigues, vicar forane of Vittal Deanery (St John Paul II), Fr Anil Canute D'Mello, parish priest of Mogarnad, Fr Naveen Prakash Pinto, principal of Deva Matha English Medium School, and deacon Avil Santhmayor assisted during the celebration.
The altar was further graced by numerous guest priests from neighboring parishes, who joined in the concelebration to express their solidarity with the Mogarnad community.
Festive atmosphere
Following the spiritual proceedings, the church grounds hummed with energy. The parish was decorated with festive banners and flowers, reflecting the joy of the occasion. The annual feast serves not only as a religious milestone but also as a homecoming for many who travel from afar to reconnect with their roots and celebrate their shared heritage.
As the day concluded, the parish priest, Fr Anil Canute D’Mello, expressed his gratitude to the volunteers, the choir and all the devotees who worked tirelessly to make the celebration a resounding success.
