Mangaluru, Feb 11: Following signs of road collapse and deep cracks near Muchur Cross in Bajpe Edapadavu due to heavy vehicle movement, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will undertake urgent repair works on the Mangaluru-Moodbidri highway from February 12 to March 13.

In view of the 30-day repair schedule, Mangaluru police commissioner has issued a notification regarding temporary traffic diversions to ensure public safety and smooth progress of work.

Alternative routes for vehicles:

  • Trucks/Heavy Vehicles (Moodbidri to Mangaluru): Lorries coming from Moodbidri must take a right turn at Vidyagiri Mulki Cross, travel via Kinnigoli, turn right at Pakshikere Cross, and proceed through Mulki Junction and Surathkal to reach Mangaluru. Trucks traveling from Mangaluru to Moodbidri must follow the same reverse route.

  • Light Motor Vehicles (Moodbidri to Mangaluru): Other light vehicles from Moodbidri must turn right at Vidyagiri Mulki Cross, travel via Kinnigoli-Murukaveri-Kati-Permude-Bajpe or turn left at Pakshikere Cross and proceed via Haleyangadi and Surathkal. The same applies to vehicles heading to Moodbidri from Mangaluru.

  • Public Buses and Local LMVs: Route buses and local light vehicles from Moodbidri should turn right at Daddi Cross, proceed through Pumar Padavu-Manjanakatte Cross-Arjunakodi-Ishwarakatte Cross, and turn right at Muchur Cross to reach Kaikamba-Gurupur and then Mangaluru.

  • Mangaluru to Moodbidri/Karkala Trucks: All trucks traveling from Mangaluru towards Moodbidri and Karkala must use NH-66 via Surathkal-Mulki-Padubidri to reach Karkala.

The police commissioner has requested the general public to cooperate with the department as these diversions may lead to slight delays and traffic congestion during the repair period.
