Kasargod, Feb 9: Popular social media influencer Reshma (24), famously known as Adoor Chinnu Papu, allegedly passed away by suicide at an apartment in Uliyathadka on the outskirts of the city on Monday, February 9 afternoon.

The incident came to light when she was found hanging in her residence. Although neighbours rushed her to a nearby hospital immediately, she was declared brought dead.

Reshma had gained immense popularity on various social media platforms under the handle Chinnu Papu, where she predominantly spoke in the local Kasargod dialect. She had a following of over two lac followers.

It is gathered that Reshma was previously married and had a child, but was later divorced from her husband. She had been residing in a rented apartment. While the exact reason behind the extreme step remains a mystery, police are investigating whether the mental stress of the divorce or other personal issues led to the act.

Kasargod city police have registered a case and initiated a detailed investigation. The police have also decided to examine her mobile phone to gather further leads regarding the cause of death.
