Udupi: Tourist found dead in lodge near old govt bus stand

Udupi, Feb 9: A tourist was found dead while seated on a chair inside a lodge near the old government bus stand in Udupi.

The lodge staff grew suspicious when the man did not come out of his room for a long time. Upon opening the door, they found him dead on the chair.

The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained, and it is suspected that he may have died due to illness.

The deceased has been identified as Mahantesh M G, a resident of Davanagere. He had reportedly told his family that he was going to a hospital in Mangaluru before leaving home.

City police station sub-inspector Narayan, assistant sub-inspector Harish, and head constable Ashalatha conducted the legal procedures in the presence of the deceased’s wife and brother.

Social worker Nityananda Volakad assisted in shifting the body to the post-mortem centre at Ajjarakadu District Hospital.

The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
