Udupi: Auto-rickshaw driver found dead in shop room in Manipal

Udupi, Feb 9: An auto-rickshaw driver, reportedly distressed with life, died by suicide by hanging himself inside a shop room in Dasharathnagar, Manipal.

It is suspected that the incident had occurred nearly four days ago. The matter came to light after the decomposed body began emitting a foul smell, alerting the public.

The deceased has been identified as Manjunath Kamath (45), an auto driver by profession.

Assistant sub-inspector Vamana and officer Shravana from Manipal police station conducted the legal procedures at the spot. Forensic experts from Manipal also visited the scene and carried out an inspection.

The body was later brought down and shifted to the KMC post-mortem centre for further examination.

A case has been registered, and investigations are underway.
