Bantwal, Feb 8: In a tragic road accident reported near the Vittal bus stand on Sunday, February 8, a 68-year-old woman lost her life after being struck by a speeding motorcycle. The bike rider also sustained serious injuries in the collision.

The deceased has been identified as Seetha Shetty, a resident of Maruvala in Mudnooru village, Vittal.

According to sources, the accident occurred on Sunday morning when a motorcycle, reportedly traveling at high speed, crashed into Seetha Shetty. The impact of the collision was so severe that the woman died on the spot. Witnesses stated that the motorcycle skidded on the road and was found nearly 50 metres away from the point of impact, indicating the intensity of the crash.

The rider, who is said to be a native of Puttur, sustained grave injuries and was immediately rushed to a private hospital for advanced medical treatment. His condition is reported to be critical.

Vittal police personnel arrived at the scene and conducted a spot inspection. A case has been registered, and further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
