Calangute, Feb 7: Amid rising complaints of domestic tourists clicking photographs with foreign women tourists without their consent, Goa Police on Friday launched a special drive against those infringing the privacy of domestic and international visitors.
Calangute Police Inspector Paresh Naik said strict action would be taken against anyone found clicking photographs with tourists on beaches without permission. He warned that violators would be placed under preventive arrest for a day and their mobile phones seized.

“We will act firmly against domestic tourists who infringe the privacy of both domestic and international tourists,” Naik said, adding that police teams have begun intensified patrolling along popular beaches.
The action follows a noticeable rise over the past two days in incidents involving domestic tourists, particularly around Calangute and Baga beaches, allegedly harassing foreign nationals and forcing them to pose for photographs.
On Friday, police arrested two men from Tamil Nadu on Baga beach for allegedly clicking photographs of tourists without their consent. The accused have been identified as P Arantha (43) and Vijay Thirupathi (38), both natives of Tamil Nadu.
Police said swift action would continue to ensure the safety, dignity and privacy of all tourists visiting Goa.
