Udupi, Feb 7: For the second year running, the 6 Karnataka Naval Unit NCC, based in Udupi, has been adjudged the ‘Best Naval Unit’ under the Karnataka and Goa Directorate of the National Cadet Corps (NCC). The prestigious trophy was presented during a felicitation ceremony held on February 4.
Air commodore B S Arunkumar, deputy director general of the Directorate, handed over the award to Commander Ashwin Kumar, the commanding officer of the unit. The recognition underscores the unit's consistent excellence and holistic performance over the past year.

Under the leadership of Cdr Ashwin Kumar and his executive officer, lieutenant commander M A Multani, the unit has demonstrated outstanding all-round contribution. Its achievements were pivotal in the Karnataka and Goa Directorate recently winning the highly coveted Republic Day Camp (RDC) Banner. This banner was presented to Air Commodore Arunkumar by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 28 in New Delhi.
The unit’s success is built on a strong record of talent development and camp organisation. It successfully prepared and sent ten cadets to the All India Nau Sainik Camp (AINSC) and five cadets to the Republic Day Camp in Delhi this year. Furthermore, the unit efficiently conducted significant events like the Inter-Group Competition Nau Sainik Camp (IGC-NSC) and the Most Enterprising Naval Unit (MENU) 2025 competition.
This consecutive win solidifies the 6 Karnataka Naval Unit NCC’s reputation as a benchmark for excellence, reflecting the dedication of its cadets, the guidance of its officers, and its unwavering commitment to the core values of the NCC.
