Kundapur: Minor girl sexual harassment case - Two sentenced to 5 years imprisonment

Kundapur, Feb 5: Two persons convicted in a minor girl sexual harassment case under the limits of Amasebail police station have been sentenced to five years’ rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 5,000 each by the court on Thursday, February 5.

The convicted persons are Sharath Shetty of Machattu village, Kundapur, and Prashant Naik, also a resident of Machattu village.

According to the prosecution, the victim, a minor girl belonging to the Scheduled Caste and studying at a school in Amasebail, was sexually harassed by rickshaw driver Sharath Shetty and his associate Prashant Naik while commuting to and from school in an autorickshaw. The girl later informed her schoolteacher about the incident.

Based on a complaint lodged by the schoolteacher, Amasebail police registered a case on July 15, 2025.

The case was investigated by Kundapur DySP H D Kulkarni.
