Udupi, Feb 2: “The 9th Union Budget of Rs 53.5 lac cr presented by union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman is yet another strong step towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of building a ‘Developed India’ by 2047,” said former member of the Legislative Council, Capt Ganesh Karnik. He further said, “At a time when the world is grappling with economic uncertainty, this budget is a welcome one as it instills economic confidence among the people of the country. It is a balanced budget with a holistic outlook, combining short-term plans necessary to achieve long-term economic goals. Instead of focusing on appeasement of any particular community, public institution, or social group, this budget has been framed by keeping global economic turbulence in mind and prioritizing the future welfare of the people of the country. It is commendable as a people-centric budget that moves away from the mindset of appeasement and focuses on schemes capable of fulfilling public aspirations."

Capt Ganesh Karnik, stated, “The budget strongly supports the development of self-reliance through investments in infrastructure, agriculture, employment, semiconductors, rare minerals, data centers, and other key sectors. It prioritizes manufacturing, employment generation, and the service sector. This budget goes beyond being a mere annual statement of income and expenditure and treats budget-making as a responsible national duty. It aims to enhance production capacity along with sustainable economic growth, fulfill people’s aspirations, and improve their capabilities by providing the necessary resources, facilities, and opportunities in line with the principle of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas'. It is a momentum-driven budget focused on achieving rapid economic growth through seven high-speed railway corridors."
He further stated, “With record allocation of Rs 7.84 lac cr to the defence sector, the budget reflects farsightedness and a long-term vision for national security. It is a welcome budget that gives priority to the development of medical tourism through regional medical hubs, NIMHANS hospitals, mining corridors, bio-pharma, AI missions, AI technology development, and other modern technologies. As stated by the Prime Minister, this is a historic budget that reflects the aspirations of over 140 cr Indians. It provides a clear roadmap to realize the dream of a ‘Developed India’ by 2047 by changing the direction of reforms. It is a budget that gives new energy and momentum to the nation, further clarifies India’s global role on the world stage, and sets a clear goal for India to emerge as the world’s third-largest economic power."
