Mangaluru, Feb 2: The School Campus was enveloped in an atmosphere of reverence and patriotic pride as Martyrs’ Day was observed with dignity and deep respect.
The observance commenced with Sr Dr Prem garlanding the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi, paying homage to the Father of the Nation. The solemn moment was followed by a serene prayer service led by the students of class 1 A, invoking peace, harmony, and unity for the nation.

Adding charm to the occasion, the students of class 1 A then presented a welcome dance that beautifully reflected the spirit of the day.
Sharadhi spoke eloquently on the significance of Martyrs’ Day, explaining why the nation pauses on this day to remember the brave souls who laid down their lives for the country. The atmosphere soon resonated with patriotic zeal as the students of class 1 B presented a vibrant patriotic dance followed by a stirring patriotic song, filling the hearts of the audience with love and pride for the nation.
A highlight of the programme was the role play presented by class 1 C. As young performers portraying freedom fighters such as Sukhdev, Chandrashekar Azad, and Rani Laxmi Bai made their dignified entry onto the stage, a patriotic song echoed through the hall, creating a powerful and moving moment. The role plays vividly brought to life the courage, sacrifice, and fearless spirit of the nation’s heroes.
In her address, Sr Dr Prem reflected on the sacrifices of the martyrs and the significance of the day. She spoke about the tragic assassination of Mahatma Gandhi as he was returning from prayer, noting that his final utterance, ‘Hey Ram,’ revealed his deep faith and spiritual strength even in his last moments. She also highlighted that Martyrs’ Day is observed as Peace Day, urging everyone to pay true tribute to the freedom fighters by embracing peace, compassion, and selfless service in daily life.
The meaningful programme was compered by Anum and Afaf, Maira and Jiyanshi welcomed the gathering while the event concluded with a sincere vote of thanks proposed by Shaza and Prastuti.
