Satara, Feb 2: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar will undertake a visit to Satara district today, February 2, marking her first official tour after taking oath as Deputy Chief Minister on January 31.

As part of her schedule, Sunetra Pawar will visit Pritisangam Garden in Karad, where she will pay floral tributes at the memorial of former Chief Minister Yashwantrao Chavan. She will later travel to Phaltan to offer condolences to the family of Ajit Pawar’s personal security officer (PSO) Vidip Jadhav, who lost his life in a recent aircraft crash in Baramati.

According to the itinerary, Sunetra Pawar will arrive at Pritisangam Garden in Karad at around 10 am and offer respects at the samadhi of late Yashwantrao Chavan. At 11 am, she will proceed towards Phaltan. By 1 pm, she is scheduled to visit the family of Vidip Jadhav and console them over the tragic loss. Jadhav, a native of Lonand-Tardgaon, was among those who died in the Baramati aircraft accident. After completing the visit, Sunetra Pawar will leave for Baramati.

The Baramati aircraft crash claimed the lives of four people, including the aircraft crew members Captain Sumit Kapoor, co-pilot Shambhavi Pathak, flight attendant Pinky Mali, and Ajit Pawar’s PSO Vidip Jadhav. Following the incident, MLA Rohit Pawar had earlier visited the families of Pinky Mali and Vidip Jadhav. Vidip Jadhav was laid to rest in his native village on January 29.

Sunetra Pawar took oath as Deputy Chief Minister on January 31 following the untimely demise of Ajit Pawar. Expressing her emotions after assuming office, she said that although she was devastated by the loss of Ajit Pawar, the values he instilled — duty, resilience, and commitment to the people — would remain her guiding strength. She also stated that taking on the responsibility of Deputy Chief Minister while carrying forward Ajit Pawar’s ideological legacy, rooted in the thoughts of Shivaji Maharaj, Shahu Maharaj, Phule, and Ambedkar, was an overwhelming moment for her.

After she was sworn in, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis extended their greetings to Sunetra Pawar. Modi and Shah congratulated her on beginning her tenure as Maharashtra’s first woman Deputy Chief Minister, while Fadnavis expressed confidence that she would ably carry forward Ajit Pawar’s legacy.
