Udupi, Jan 31: St Cecily’s English Medium Higher Primary School (CBSE), Udupi commemorated Martyr’s Day on January 30 and paid tributes to those who sacrificed their lives for the nation, through a meaningful programme, hosted by students of grades 5A and 5B.

The programme commenced with floral tribute to the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. A solemn prayer service and prayer dance invoked God’s blessings for peace in the country and the world. An array of variety presentations such as a musical narrative on brave martyrs of our nation, melodious rendition on peace, mime show on equality and also a mesmerizing dance enthralled the audience and kindled the feelings of respect for brethren.

The chief guest, Army veteran, Lt Col S Maria Michael was accorded a gracious welcome by the students and vice principal, Sr Preethi Savitha AC. In his motivational message, Michael urged the Cecilians to understand the importance of non-violence and shared that discipline and hard work are the essential qualities one must practise in life to be a good citizen.

He then distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions held in January and also honoured the scouts and guides of the school.

Class teachers of grades 5A and 5B deftly curated and trained the students for the marvellous programme.
